Education and Background

Laura earned her LMSW by obtaining a master’s degree in Social work with a specialization in Children and Families. As she is working towards the Licensed Clinical Social Work (LCSW) license, Laura is in the process of completing 3000 hours of supervised counseling experience under the supervision of Cheryl Dielman, LCSW-S, LPC-S, and CEDS.

As part of Laura’s education at the University of Texas in Arlington, she completed two accredited internships. The first at an inpatient mental health hospital. The second other was working in both large and small scale settings, specifically, providing individual case management to women from domestic abuse situations and also leading therapeutic groups with these women.

After receiving her graduate education, Laura gained additional experience working at a pain management clinic in Arlington. She also has had previous experience providing therapeutic help at behavior modification centers, addiction programs, and outpatient clinics. Each of these settings has provided Laura with understanding in both practice techniques and the ability to effectively address specialized areas of client need.

Some of the main areas Laura helps in are anxiety, depression, and relational difficulties. A primary focus that is close to her heart is helping to equip and encourage others with chronic pain and chronic illness. As a young person who experienced chronic illness herself, she understands the challenges that can arise from such difficulties and wants to encourage others on their wellness journey.
