My Approach

“I believe that positive change is possible and can be lasting. The relationship we develop is uniquely personal and my goal is to provide you with a safe environment where you can ask for what you need and can achieve your goals and desires.”

Our time together is a collaborative experience, and with your personality and situation in mind, I can share different types of therapy that can be available to you. This is an exciting time to seek counseling; many new, effective methods have been developed to deal with trauma, addiction, loss, and relationship difficulties. These methods can apply to how we treat children, adults, families, and couples.

I look forward to meeting you and helping you along your journey.  This work is a privilege for me, and I am grateful for the opportunity to see what we can create together.

Specialization

Over the years I have developed several specialties and urge you to read the My Story tab in About Us if you would like a detailed account.  I have grown to appreciate that problems or crises change us:  we are more motivated for change and in crisis, we tend to get better or become bitter. Many times, our issues, (such as eating disorders, loss, grief, depression, or anxiety) represent important themes or life lessons we’re trying to work through.   Examples of some of these themes might show up as difficulties with trusting ourselves or others, self-care, forgiveness, healthy boundaries, communication, or decision-making. Together we will develop a plan tailored to you and your needs and at your pace. It is important to me that during our time together you feel supported, understood, safe, and empowered.

I am an approved supervisor for therapists to become licensed in Texas.  I also supervise therapists who want to be certified as Internal Family Systems therapists or Certified Eating Disorder Specialists
